Summer Events

It's hard to believe that summer is almost at an end. Although after this dry hot summer I think I'm about ready for Fall! I can't believe I just said that, it's so unlike me. It's been an interesting summer to say the least. Breaking my foot (that is still healing), and Derek being gone for the majority of it.  It's not a summer I hope to repeat. On the bright side..we have done a few fun things this summer that the kids and I have enjoyed. Spending time with family, watching fireworks, going to the carnival, swimming with cousins, visiting Megan and getting frozen yogurt, watching the Olympics, going to Scottish Festivals and BBQ's..the list goes on. I couldn't have made it through this summer with out all the help from my family! They are truly the best people on the planet. My pictures from earlier this summer are lost somewhere...change of computers etc.

Derek's arrival home from his trip was a much anticipated event in our household. I took the kids up to the base to be there when his plane came in. We waited in his building waiting anxiously for his plane to land and for him to get the cargo off the plane, luggage etc. One of the employees saw us waiting and asked if we wanted to go to the flight line to see him off the plane. He was in civilian clothes so I was surprised that he was able to take us out there. He took the kids and I in his truck right out on the flight line and we got to see him right as he got off the plane. It was awesome! We were the only family that got to go out there. Derek said he had never seen that guy take anyone out there before so it was pretty cool that he did that for us.
It's been so nice to have Derek home and be a complete family again. Here are a few pictures from a few things we've done together.
