Summer Activities

I'm going to squeeze in a lot in this post...because I'm lazy. Evie had her first Irish Dance Performance for the summer, at the Scottish Festival at Thanksgiving Point a few weeks ago. Her class is the youngest class in the group so they have the cute factor going for them, and boy are they cute! She did a great job and is really getting quite good at dance for her first year. She shows me her dance moves pretty much everyday, sometimes more then once. She has a big performance this Friday and another one at the Payson Scottish Festival in July.

The Tiara...Perfect!

I had a hard time getting a picture in that dark tent while they were moving.

Another summer adventure is breaking my foot Memorial Day weekend and having to wear a cast for half of the summer. Hopefully this stupid thing will be off by July 13th...I'm counting down the days. I just want to be able to get around like a normal person. Derek is being deployed in a few days and he'll be gone for a  whole month so it's really going to be a challange while he's gone. Thank goodness for my awesome family for being willing to help me out! I don't know how I would survive without them.

We also had the big fire scare last weekend. Being evacuated from our house and watching the fire on the hill creep closer was a little bit freaky. Derek stayed at the house and kept an eye on things. He wasn't about to leave. Typical Derek...don't tell him what he can or can't do :) He took a bunch of pictures that I posted on Facebook. Here are a few of the good ones. A couple days later we watched the firefighters drive down the mountain after working hard all day to put out the fires. Their faces and clothes were all black and they looked so tired! We waved and shouted our thank you's as they drove by. The kids thought that was the best thing ever. They turned their flashing lights on for the kids and waved back with smiles on their faces. We enjoyed it so much we made sure we were outside the next day to do the same thing. We sure appreciate their hard work!!

  2. Go, Evie! Such a cute dancer. Can't believe how close the fire got. Major blessing that it didn't burn any houses.

  3. So excited that we get to dance with Evie this year, but bummer that you don't:( I am sure glad we didn't roast in that fire too.
